Our Story Begins in 1860
Australia would not be Australia without our pubs! That’s the place to go after a hard day’s work to enjoy a cold beer with mates. It’s also a place where you can hook up with new friends, dance, play pool, listen to the juke-box or live bands and grab a bite to eat or chef prepared gourmet meal, watch all the great sporting events, have a flutter on the races or just relax in front of the fire.
And as they say in the ”Classics” “Happiness is a warm Pub!”
The Lawson Park Hotel has been trading since the mid 1860’s, it was originally known as the Tattersalls Hotel but had a name change in the 1970’s to The Lawson Park Hotel, due to its proximity to Lawson Park.
Interestingly Lawson Park was not named after Mudgee’s mast famous resident, the great poet Henry Lawson but after the famous explorer Lieutenant William Lawson of Blaxland, Lawson and Wentworth fame , the first explorers to cross the Blue Mountains.
Mudgee’s oldest pub The Lawson Park proudly and unashamedly boasts receiving accolades such as The Australian Hotels Association “Awards of Excellence – Country Bistro of the Year”.
The Lawson Park restores faith in the future of the authentic Aussie pub. A real country pub with loads of good old fashioned timeless charm dating back to the 1860’s.
The warmth of wood panelling, crackling fires along with our great bar and The Red Heifer Bistro deliver irresistible appeal. It’s the “classic country pub”.
